As part of Phase 2 of BC’s Restart Plan, facilities which offer services such as dance, yoga, and martial arts can reopen as of May 19 if they meet physical distancing requirements and safety guidelines. Any facility wishing to reopen must develop a plan that follows safety measures outlined by the provincial health officer and WorkSafeBC.

The Seikido Federation has worked with an environmental health and safety consultant to ensure that we have taken all the necessary measures for a re-opening that exceeds industry standards. Through an inspection and consulting process, we have developed a protocol that meets WorkSafeBC compliance and Fraser Health standards.

Safe Physical Distancing

  • All classes will be no contact and remain under 10 students until restrictions ease.

  • 20 minutes is allocated between every class to prevent overlapping of students. This time is also used to disinfect the mats, reception area, and any equipment used.

  • We will continue to offer our Virtual Dojo resource and Zoom classes.

  • No parents will be permitted inside the dojo. We will block off one or two parking spots to be designated as a “waiting area”. Parents must pick their children up on time and maintain social distancing if waiting outside. If at the end of class the weather is poor, we will keep and monitor the students inside. When a parent becomes present, we will guide them out one at a time.

Our Cleaning and Disinfecting Protocols

We have implemented enhanced antibacterial and antiviral cleaning and sanitizing protocols for all common areas and surfaces. This includes mats, equipment, washrooms, light switches, door handles. etc. We are increasing the frequency that these items are cleaned per day as well as the timing (before and after classes).

We are proud to use a high end phosphate-free athletic surface disinfectant that effectively cleans, deodorizes and disinfects. We also have Purell sanitizer wall stations at the front and back of our dojo.

Adjusted Class Protocol

  • All students must show up to your scheduled class on time. We will only allow students inside the dojo 5 minutes before class in order to avoid overlapping. Do not come inside early and please remember to respect social distancing measures while entering. Late students will not be accepted.

  • All students must be already wearing their uniform upon arrival.

  • All students are permitted and encouraged to wear masks during class.

  • Do not bring your equipment bag.

  • Bring a full water bottle. The water machine will not be available.

  • Upon entering the dojo, students must sanitize their hands immediately. All students will then have their temperature taken with a UV thermometer. Students who have a high temperature or display symptoms of illness will be sent home.

  • After removing shoes, students must go directly to their allocated mat area and wait for Sensei to begin class.

  • During class, all students must remain in their allocated mat space.

  • Bathroom use is for emergencies only. Our upstairs student lounge and change room are closed.

  • When class is finished, students will be guided to leave one at a time.

To ensure the priority and security of our families, will not be accepting any new students until further notice.
No drop-ins are permitted, in order to maintain safe distancing. Only registered students are permitted in the dojo.
